MiniRacers
MiniRacers was an exploration of using Roblox for a cross platform tabletop racing game including VR.
I was responsible for the overall Game Design, as well as all 3D Asset creation (Vehicles, tables, main environment) and UI (In game and environment interfaces). Programming was done by @SteamG00B.
As the Roblox editor is limited in its capability, and the monetization and discoverability favouring Idle Clickers and games that lack actual 'game' we decided to move back to Unity as an eco system.
Due to the lack of optimisation in the engine, and requirements of VR device power, all assets in the experience were created with one material using Gradient Texturing approaches.
Vehicles were created in a way that allowed many assets to use the same textures in order to reduce file size and reduce creation time. That said, as unlocks were a key part of the eco system, advanced cars would have unique textures.
Due to a number of reasons, this project is on hold indefinitely. I would certainly love to come back to this experience if resources permit.
